Review: Asylum by Shana Festa

Asylum by Shana Festa
Time of Death Book Two

Genre: Post-Apocalyptic

Surviving the journey is just the beginning.

The last two months have brought nothing but death and destruction for Emma Rossi. She survived the initial zombie outbreak with her husband, Jake, and their dog, Daphne, but the cost was steep: Sanibel has fallen.

In a world where the only constant is change, the group is pushed to their limits before reaching the gates of Asylum, a coastal stronghold in Sarasota, Florida.

Once again, Emma must navigate an apocalyptic wasteland filled with relentless hordes of the undead and other menacing horrors that threaten her survival.

Only thing is certain. No one is safe from what lurks on either side of Asylum's gates. Asylum may offer more than just safety.

Sanity will be tested; and many won't live to tell the tale.
Wow! Shana Festa has totally outdone herself with Asylum! I loved Induction, but Asylum blew me away. Just in the span of two books, I'm absolutely sold--hook, line, and sinker-- on Shana Festa's writing. This book picks up exactly where the last one left off and doesn't give the reader a moment to catch their breath before they're thrown back into the action. It is jam packed with nail biting moments that will haunt you the entire time you're reading!

One of the few things that bothered me with the first book was Emma herself. But that totally turned around during Asylum. I adore her and her snark. There are a lot of changes during Asylum. Some of them come on slowly and others just crash into you with no warning. It was really interesting to see how these changes played out with different characters. I was not expecting some of the things that transpired in more ways than one! There are new characters introduced in this book, too. Shana does a good job of making each of her characters their own person that are interesting to get to know.

As soon as I finished Asylum, I tried to figure out when the next book will be here. It was so fast paced and action packed that I flew through it. At times I wanted to slow down and soak it in more, but I just had to know what was going to happen next! There's not a single reason why zomb-fic fans shouldn't pick up Asylum. It's holycrapbbqsauce AMAZING.
